B+W Filter Mount F-Pro

B+W Filter Mount F-Pro

The Standard Filter Mount F-Pro has high mechanical stability despite its shallow design. It can be used on most wide-angle lenses without the danger of vignetting. However, exact data regarding focal length and angle of view limitations are not possible because vignetting depends not only on the height of the filter mount and the angle of view, but also on the tube design of the front of the lens. As a guide, this fi lter mount can be used without vignetting on 35 mm camera lenses (approx. 63° diagonal angle of view). In addition, most wide-angle lenses with 28 mm (approx. 75° angle of view) and in many cases even with 24 mm (approx. 84° angle of view) can be combined with the F-Pro mount without the risk of vignetting. The same angles of view apply to lenses in digital cameras. Despite the thinner design, others fi lters, snap caps or lens hoods can be attached easily and safely to the front thread. Another advantage of the new F-Pro fi lter mount: the fi lter glass is no longer held in place from the front, but from the back by the retaining ring. This prevents the retaining ring from being accidentally loosened during the removal of an additional fi lter or a lens hood that has been screwed in too tightly.

  • B+W 007 Clear MRC F-Pro for protection

This filter fulfils the desire of many photographers for pure lens protection without a filter effect. Its only function is to keep dirt, sand, or splashes away from the front lens. The extremely clear special glass with high transmission is MRC-finished. MRC by B+W is not only an extraordinarily effective multiple layer coating, it is also harder than glass, so that it protects filters from scratches (for instance when cleaning the filters), and it is also water and dirt repellent, thus facilitating filter maintenance. This filter uses our standard B+W F-Pro filter mount, which has a front accessory thread and is made of brass. Compared to the earlier standard mount introduced in 2001, the F-Pro mount has become thinner. Now it can be used with wide angle lenses, including most 24mm focal lengths on a full frame body, without vignetting. Another advantage of the F-Pro mount is it's modified retaining ring, which is no longer threaded in from the front, but holds the filter glass in place from the back. When removing a filter or lens hood that has been screwed on too tight to the filter, the retaining ring is not at risk of loosening.

  • B+W UV-Filter 010 MRC F-Pro

This UV Filter blocks the invisible UV component of light from the sky, which can cause blur and to which many color films react with a blue cast. These filters should be called UV-Blocking Filters, because there are filters for technical applications that pass UV radiation and block all the other wavelengths. Nevertheless, the short term “UV Filter” has become established among photographers. UV Filters are ideal for photography in high altitudes (in the mountains), by the sea and in regions with very clean air. The pictures gain brilliance and disturbing blue casts are avoided. Because the glass is colorless, color rendition is not altered, aside from the elimination of the unwanted blue cast, and no increase in exposure is required. That makes a UV Filter very suitable as protection of the front element of the taking lens against dust, flying sand, sea water spray and the like, and it can be kept on the lens at all times. It is recommended for analog color and black-and-white as well as digital photography. --- Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC). MRC by B+W is not only an extraordinarily effective multiple layer coating, it is also harder than glass, so that it protects filters from scratches (for instance when cleaning the filters), and it is also water and dirt repellent, thus facilitating filter maintenance.

  • B+W Zirkular Polfilter Käsemann HTC MRC F-Pro
  • B+W Kaesemann Circular Polarizer MRC Filter F-Pro filter mount

The “high-end” polarizing foils of the Käsemann-type filters are neutral in color, they have a higher efficiency than conventional polarizing foils and they are cemented between high-grade plano-parallel optical glass. The resulting sandwich is then precision-polished again to achieve highly accurate plano-parallel surfaces. Subsequently they are edge-sealed to protect the foil against humidity. Discriminating photographers regard the B+W Käsemann-Type Polarizing Filter to be the very best of all polarizing filters. They are well suited for applications that require the highest possible imaging quality, especially with high-speed telephoto lenses and apochromatic lenses. MRC by B+W is not only an extraordinarily effective multiple layer coating, it is also harder than glass, so that it protects filters from scratches (for instance when cleaning the filters), and it is also water and dirt repellent, thus facilitating filter maintenance.

  • B+W Circular Polarizer MRC Filter

The B+W Circular Polarizer MRC Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

  • B+W Neutral density filter

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedian. (/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutral_density_filter) In photography and optics, a neutral density filter or ND filter is a filter that reduces or modifies intensity of all wavelengths or colors of light equally, giving no changes in hue of color rendition. It can be a colorless (clear) or grey filter. The purpose of a standard photographic neutral density filter is to allow the photographer greater flexibility to change the aperture, exposure time and/or motion blur of subject in different situations and atmospheric conditions. For example, on a very bright day, one might wish to photograph a waterfall at a slow shutter speed to create a deliberate motion blur effect. In order to do this, one would need a shutter speed on the order of tens of seconds. There might be so much light that even at minimum film speed and a minimum aperture such as f/32, the desired shutter speed would still let in too much light and the photo would be overexposed—or, if shooting at aperture priority, the camera would select a shutter speed that would be too fast to achieve the desired effect. In this situation, applying an appropriate neutral density filter is the equivalent of stopping down one or more additional stops, allowing for the slower shutter speed and the desired motion-blur effect

  • B+W Neutral Density Graduated F-Pro filter mount

B+W offers screw on graduated ND filters designated (701M) and (702M) in a rotating mount, similar to that of a polarizer. These filters darken the respective portion of the subject by one or two f-stops without altering its colors. For example, when the sky is too bright in relation to the landscape, these filters are ideal for good detail rendition in the clouds and for preventing the sky from being "washed out" by over-exposure. Because of the increased difference in brightness, it is important for the horizon line not to be positioned too far from the center of the image. These filters are made of Optical Glass with Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC).

  • B+W Skylight KR-1.5 (1A) MRC Filter
  • B+W Close-Up (Diopters)

B+W close-up lenses are single element magnifying lenses which shorten the close-focusing distance of the camera lens. They allow the lens to go closer to the subject than before and to achieve a larger image scale. An increase in the exposure time is not necessary. The lenses can be combined by adding their refractive powers. Do not combine more than two at a time because there is a danger of mechanical vignetting.

  • B+W 486 UV/IR-Sperrfilter
  • B+W Infrarotfilter
  • B+W Skylight 1A Coated Glass Filter (KR1.5)

    • Due to its light pink color, the KR 1.5 reduces excess blue cast giving a pleasing, warmer picture tone. • At the same time, it blocks ultraviolet light and reduces haze in the scene. • The skylight filter, like the UV 010, may be kept permanently on the lens for protection.
