In addition to the AF-S Nikkor 28mm F1.4E ED, 8-15mm F3.5-4.5E ED fisheye and AF-P 10-20mm F4.5-5.6G VR lenses Nikon also announced the new Arcrest line of 'professional-grade' protection filters. The Arcrest filters are available in 67mm, 72mm, 77mm, 82mm and 95mm diameters and, according to Nikon, can survive heavy impacts while only having a minimal impact on image quality. The filters are 2mm thick and come with special coatings that minimize color balance disturbance, reduce ghosting and flares and repel water/oil/dirt. Nikon says they are also less prone to ghosting when shooting night scenes.

  • Nikon NC Filter

This filter fulfils the desire of many photographers for pure lens protection without a filter effect. Its only function is to keep dirt, sand, or splashes away from the front lens.

  • The new circular polarizing filter (C-PL II)

Nikons original circular polarizing filters (C-PL) appear much larger than the filter diameter of the lens (as can be seen in the above left image). These oversized filters where deliberately designed like this, to prevent any possible vignetting from occurring. Nikon introduced a mark 2 version of the circular polarizing filters (C-PL II) shown above right, which using modern manufacturing processes allowed the filters to be much thinner, to prevent any possible vignetting. - The new circular polarizing filter (C-PL II), have a similar diameter to the lens and can be used with the lens's original lens hood and the lens cap supplied with the lens. It is not recommended to use the C-PL II filter in conjunction with another filter on a wide angle lens as vignetting may occur. The C-PL II filter is available in the following filter sizes - 52mm, 58mm, 62mm, 67mm, 72mm, 77mm, 82mm and 95mm.
